NIACC Club Calf Sale – October 15th 2003

North Iowa Area Community College Agriculture students will sponsor it annual club calf sale at 6:00 PM on Wednesday, October 15th, 2003, at the NIACC Farm Lab.  The NIACC Farm Lab is located just SW of the campus, 2 miles east of Mason City on Highway 122.

Students will display and offer for sale, 19 outstanding club calf prospects, including 12 outstanding heifers and 7 steers born this spring.  The cattle will be halter broke and can be seen anytime by contacting NIACC Agriculture faculty members.  A free barbecue supper will be provided from 5:00 – 5:30 PM, cattle viewing and inspection from 3:00 – 5:30 and the sale of cattle will be at 6:00 PM.

The featured sire of this year’s calf crop is Heat Seeker.  This bull has sired many national champions and NIACC is offering 7 calves by him.    Other A I Sires include Yukon, Habanero, Digital, Sierra, Lucky Break, and Walker.  This is an exceptional set of calves that should meet most club calf buyer’s needs.  These calves were weaned on September 10 and will be offered for sale early, so that you can develop them as desired.  Calves from last year’s sale were extremely competitive with calves winning several Iowa State Fair classes, county and open shows.

The “NIACC Club Calf Sale” is sponsored by Agricultural Technology students at NIACC and provides many 4-H and FFA members the opportunity to obtain high quality, show calves for youth projects.  This sale also provides our students with the opportunity to develop marketing skills through their involvement in all phases of planning and executing the sale.  A special thanks goes out to the Intro To Farm Operations and Animal Science classes, which have sale management responsibilities.  We are confident that you will find all of these club calf prospects to be suitable for next seasons show circuit.

We hope that you will join us for this year’s Club Calf Sale and that each of you will have a champion calf.

If you have any questions regarding the sale or cattle, don’t hesitate to call one of us at NIACC --  Chris Chodur at the farm-641-423-7888 or Larry Eichmeier - 641-422-4225.
