Outstanding Math and Engineering Students at NIACC

Chase Cookman from Mason City and Zakaria Joundi from Morocco, 2003 graduates of North Iowa Area Community College, were selected by the NIACC Mathematics and Engineering Division as outstanding sophomore students.

Cookman will attend Iowa State University in the fall to pursue a major in Chemical Engineering.  He is a member of Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society.

Joundi will attend Iowa State University in the fall to pursue a major in Electrical Engineering.  He plans to return to Morocco after graduation from ISU to apply his education to help improve the technology infrastructure within his country.  Zak is a student in the Honors Program.

Selection of the students is based on their grade point average and participation in mathematics and engineering classes.  The department has selected outstanding students since 1990.

The two outstanding students will be recognized at an Open House in the McAllister Hall Science Annex on Thursday, April 10, 2003, from 3 to 4 p.m.
