NIACC Earns Maximum Full Re-accreditation of 8 Years
from the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission, Inc.
The North Iowa Area Community College Associate Degree
Nursing Program (ADN) has received notification of reaccreditation for the
maximum period of eight years from the National League for Nursing
Accrediting Commission, Inc. (NLNAC). This final phase was the result of
the NLNAC Evaluation Review Panel's analysis of NIACC' s program
self-study document and the summary report submitted from on-site team
visitors in October 2003.
NIACC ADN faculty, staff and community members participated in the NLNAC’s
accreditation process. “The team’s findings are the culmination of our
diligent preparation in our pursuit of excellence,” Donna Orton, NIACC
Health Division Chairperson, said. Orton also stated that NIACC's ADN
program is one of four community college nursing programs in the state
that is currently NLNAC accredited.
NIACC received initial accreditation from the NLNAC in 1988 with
continuing accreditation granted in 1996. In order to maintain its
accredited status, the College periodically undergoes evaluation. Each
evaluation cycle includes a thorough self-study followed by an on-site
visit by a team of evaluators from the NLNAC. NIACC’s ADN Program has a
history of continuous accreditation at each evaluation with no required
reports or interim visits. #####
