NIACC Pilots Manufacturing Pre-Employment Training Program – Career Link

North Iowans can now jump-start their manufacturing careers! North Iowa Area Community College has partnered with area industries to create the Career Link pre-employment manufacturing training program.

"NIACC is offering the Career Link program in response to requests from several North Iowa manufacturing companies," Dr. Michael Morrison (retired 2008), NIACC president, said. "The goal is to provide a short-term training opportunity that will help participants be successful as they start a career in manufacturing. Our partner companies have confirmed that the skills being offered in the program are right on target with the needs of the workplace."

Career Link partners with NIACC include Advanced Component Technologies, Inc.; Eaton Corporation; Fleetguard; Hampton Hydraulics; Iowa Mold Tooling; Kiefer Built, Inc.; Kraft Foods; Larson Manufacturing; Metalcraft, Inc.; Suntron Iowa; and Winnebago Industries.

Students in the Career Link manufacturing pre-employment training program will learn new skills related to a manufacturing career, earn certification in four weeks, learn about premier manufacturing companies in the area, increase opportunity to earn more money and better benefits and develop careers.

Information and assessment sessions for the Career Link program will be held on Tuesday, July 19, and Wednesday, July 20, at the Mason City Workforce Center from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. A $25 registration fee will be required for the information and assessment sessions.

All potential students for the Career Link pilot must attend an information and assessment session in which Work Keys tests in Applied Technology, Applied Math and Locating Information will be given. Candidates must achieve a passing score before moving to the next step. A program application will also need to be completed.

Career Link is a 56-hour, four-week training program that runs Monday through Thursday evenings, August 1 – 25, from 6 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. Training sessions are provided over the ICN.
