NIACC Hosts Information Technology Informational Focus Groups Open to Public

If Game Programming and Testing or Cyber Security sound interesting, then you won’t want to miss the free informational focus groups at North Iowa Area Community College’s John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center on Tuesday, July 26 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

"We’re hosting these free informational focus groups for the public to determine if North Iowans are interested in learning about these types of fields," Mary Mosiman, NIACC information technology department leader, said. "For the first time in years, the information technology job market is on the upswing with salaries again on the rise, and game programming and testing and cyber security are two of the fastest growing areas."

All participants will receive a free dinner and the opportunity to share what they would expect from classes and training and how much interest they have in taking classes in these areas.

Game Programming and Testing will interest anyone looking to earn money while playing video games. The game industry has a need for qualified game testers to try the newest games before they are released. NIACC’s informational focus group will discuss the opportunities available to video game testers, including job options, wages and more.

Cyber Security will interest all those who never miss an episode of CSI. Find out how to be one of those computer gurus who help solve crimes using technologies through NIACC’s informational focus group. NIACC is exploring two new programs in this area, one taking a criminal justice forensics path and the other protecting business and personal data to stop high-tech criminals from stealing personal identities or business secrets.

For more information, call 641-422-4358 or toll-free 1-888-466-4222, ext. 4358. Mention reference number 35801 for Game Programming and Testing and reference number 35800 for Cyber Security.
