NIACC Entrepreneurs’ Exchange Draws Large Crowd of Area Business People

North Iowa Area Community College John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center (JPEC) and the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) celebrated a successful Entrepreneurs’ Exchange event with the North Iowa entrepreneurial community last week.

Last week’s session focused on learning marketing techniques to create big profits from small businesses and featured guest speaker Maureen Collins-Williams, director of the University of Northern Iowa Regional Business Center/SBDC in Waterloo. Plus, all attendees received a free copy of the book Marketing Warfare, by Al Ries and Jack Trout.

"I was worried that we might have a poor attendance by offering the Entrepreneurs’ Exchange in mid-summer, and I was obviously pleasantly surprised when 55 attendees packed our seminar room," Rich Petersen, SBDC director, said. "We are extremely pleased that the networking of North Iowa entrepreneurs has grown to this level over the past four Entrepreneurs’ Exchange events. I believe this demonstrates the importance of entrepreneurial development and networking to our North Iowa business owners."

Entrepreneurs’ Exchanges have been hosted by NIACC JPEC and SBDC quarterly over the past year and have experienced increased success and interest with each event. The events focus on a specific aspect of entrepreneurial businesses and feature an expert speaker on the targeted topic, while also creating an opportunity for area entrepreneurs to network and share ideas.

The next Entrepreneurs’ Exchange will take place on October 18, with a presentation from a nationally acclaimed business research organization from St. Paul, Minn., that will demonstrate usage of sophisticated databases and resources for business and market research.
