Like me, most community college graduates stay in
Iowa
to live and work. That’s one of the
great things that happens when you invest in the Community Colleges of Iowa—you
are investing in the next generation of Iowa workers, not the next generation of
workers in Minneapolis, Kansas City, or Chicago.
And we need our graduates to stay in Iowa and use their knowledge and
talents now more than ever.
Beyond my direct relationship with the North Iowa Area
Community College, I see the important needs the Community Colleges of Iowa
fill.
North Iowa Area Community College partners with area
schools and businesses to meet any educational or training needs that might
arise. As part of the Iowa
Legislature, please stand tall in your pride and support of our community
college system. We need to build on
and develop existing community college partnerships with local and regional
businesses, K-12 school districts, and others.
And, as community colleges face dramatic enrollment increases due to the
tough economic times, please make sure they receive adequate funding to support
the countless Iowans who are relying on them for education and re-training.
