Successful Innovation System
The ISU Startup Factory has a stellar success record in bringing university, state, and private resources together to help startups progress from idea to market. The program relies on the Lean Startup tools but also cultivates management skills and validates financial numbers. We offer an extensive network of business mentors for guidance and to help open doors. This system improves the business results of innovation. On hand for the Q&A are Startup Factory President Bill Adamowski, North Iowa SBDC Director Brook Boehmler, and Pappajohn Accelerator Director Dan Winegarden.
If you have or plan an innovation serving markets beyond Iowa, this program is for you. It will leverage your own resources and maximize your market success.
Not Just for Startups
For 2018, Startup Factory is looking beyond the Ames campus and academic-related startups to serve high-growth potential startups and existing businesses pursuing innovation. To reach beyond Ames, ISU is partnering with the regional Small Business Development Centers (SBDCs) of Northwest Iowa. This includes the NIACC Pappajohn Center – North Iowa SBDC. The NIACC team has special expertise in growing successful businesses in rural Iowa and will be part of your support team through the Startup Factory program.
We’re not just for startups. Entrepreneurs, intrapreneurs, and change-oriented innovation teams are invited. Innovation is not limited to products or services but may include any part of your existing business or startup. Thinking of implementing a new distribution channel? New marketing method? New back office systems? New business relationships or partnerships? New products? Line extensions? Internet-of-things services? The Startup Factory can help make sure you’re successful.
Target industries for Startup Factory
We especially want tech or data-driven business opportunities in advanced manufacturing, biotech or life sciences, alternative energy, information technology, financial technology (FinTech), and more.
There is both talent and money available to supplement your internal innovation team. We want to help you import dollars to Iowa by supporting successful innovation.
Attend Thursday to hear more. Program applications end in December and the 2018 Startup Factory Program starts in January.
