ACLS, PALS & NRP classes have been planned and implemented in accordance with ACCME® Essential Areas and Elements and Iowa Medical Society (IMS) policies through the joint sponsorship of Mercy Medical Center – North Iowa and North Iowa Area Community College. Mercy Medical Center – North Iowa is accredited by the IMS to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Registration/Cancellation Procedure:

  2. Provide Name or Social Security number, Course Title, and Course Number.
  3. You will be asked, "Who is paying for this class?"
  4. If you are a licensed professional, you may be asked for your license number(s) and profession(s).
  5. If you are unable to attend, please call to cancel your registration.

Neonatal Resuscitation Provider/Renewal

This course is designed to provide participants with the opportunity to discuss and demonstrate
neonatal resuscitation skills: Overview and principals of resuscitation, initial steps, use of devices, chest compressions, ET intubation, laryngeal mask airway insertion, medications, special considerations, resuscitation of the pre-term baby, and ethics and care at the end of life. This NRP Program is based on American Academy of Pediatrics and AHA guidelines for 2011.

Note:  NRP provider status is maintained by taking an NRP Provider course every 2 years. There is no Renewal Course. 

Pre-Course Requirements:
Reading/preparation is mandatory for this course. Participants self-study the Neonatal Resuscitation
6th Edition Textbook.  Textbooks may be available for check-out from your facility/unit or for purchase from the NIACC BookZone at your own expense.

Pre-course on-line examination is required. The student must present exam verification form in order to participate in the skills portion. No hard-copy examination after December 2011.

F   Feb 10  7:30 am – 7:30 pm   Scheduled in two-hour increments per participant. 
Last registration timeslot will be 5:00 p.m.  Times will be assigned upon registration.

The NRP online examination and integrated skills station are required and used for evaluation. The Simulation and Debriefing component is required and used to improve teamwork and communication.
Continuing Education credit is contingent upon successful completion of the course. The next Integrated Skills Station will be offered in September, 2012.

Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa designates this live activity for a maximum of 2.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits(s).  Physicians should claim only credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
