North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC) would like to recognize two students for designing winning entries in the logo design competition for the John Pappajohn Iowa Entrepreneurial Venture Competition with a prize of $500. Payton Stadtlander of Garner and Kyler Smith of Mason City each submitted a logo and were asked to collaborate together on one logo; each were awarded $250. Stadtlander stated, “Creating this logo was challenging but enjoyable because I was able to express my creativity in a form of art. I am very passionate about graphic designing and I was enthused when hearing mine was chosen as part of the winning design.”
The logo design competition was open to students at their respective host institutions. Designers were asked to develop a logo for the business plan competition that is neutral in color and theme to all of the centers. To be eligible, students had to be registered at least part time during the spring semester 2015 at Drake University, Iowa State University, North Iowa Area Community College, University of Iowa, and University of Northern Iowa. NIACC Visual Arts Instructor Wayne Allison commented on his students’ win, “Considering the level of competition, we are thrilled that two NIACC students were chosen as the winners. It demonstrates that our students can compete with the best so I congratulate Kyler and Payton for their excellent work.”
The John Pappajohn Iowa Business Plan Competition, now called the John Pappajohn Iowa Entrepreneurial Venture Competition, will be celebrating its 10th year in 2015.
