Free Start Smart Workshops to be offered in Clear Lake and Mason City And Free Entrepreneur Exchange Seminar in Mason City
North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC) and the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) are offering two free two-hour workshop designed for anyone who is considering starting a business. At Start Smart, participants will learn how to create a business plan, do market research, consider different types of business ownership, and learn how to register a business.
Start Smart will be offered Wednesday, March 23rd from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the Clear Lake Chamber of Commerce, 205 Main Ave. Clear Lake. This session is co-sponsored by the Clear Lake Chamber of Commerce.
The second class offering will be on Wednesday, April 6th from 10:00am-Noon at the Mason City Corridor, 9 North Federal, Mason City.
The activities involved in starting a business fall under two broad categories—feasibility (the business plan) and administrative tasks. While we like to focus on the feasibility issue, Start Smart provides information and the chance to ask questions on numerous other topics including:
Doing customer research
How bankers evaluate business concepts and loans
Business plan tips
After attending Start Smart, Small Business Development Center (SBDC) staff will be available to assist you in reviewing your business plan, or to provide guidance with other issues.

In this powerful 2-hour seminar, you’ll learn time-tested principles of how to grow your business. NIACC Pappajohn Center welcomes Andy O’Brien: ActionCoach Executive Coaching and John Maxwell: Gitomer Certified Advisor as presenters.
