Job Title | Description |

Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) | Provide basic patient care under direction of nursing staff. Perform duties, such as feed, bathe, dress, groom, move patients, or change linens. State Certification required in long term care/skilled care/acute care facilities. |
Home Care Aide | Provide routine individualized health care such as changing bandages and dressing wounds, and applying topical medications to the elderly, convalescents, or persons with disabilities at the patient’s home or in a care facility. Monitor or report changes in health status. May also provide personal care such as bathing, dressing, and grooming of patient. |
Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) | Assess injuries, administer emergency medical care, and extricate trapped individuals. Transport injured or sick persons to medical facilities. |
Rehabilitation Aide | To provide restorative nursing care for residents, under the supervision of a licensed nurse, in accordance with facility policies and procedures and reports needs and concerns to a licensed nurse. Requires C.N.A. certification. |
Certified Medication Aide | Follows facility policies and procedures to implement medication orders in an accurate and timely manner. Must complete the Certified Medication Aide course. Requires C.N.A. certification. |
Phlebotomist | An individual trained to draw blood, either for laboratory tests or for blood donations. |
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) | Care for ill, injured, convalescent, or disabled persons in hospitals, nursing homes, clinics, private homes, group homes, and similar institutions. May work under the supervision of a registered nurse. State Licensure required, BLS and CPR. C.N.A. experience highly recommended. |
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) | Perform administrative and certain clinical duties under the direction of physician. A member of the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA). National Certification required. |
Dental Assistant | Assist dentist with dental procedures, set up equipment, prepare patient for treatment, and maintains office records. State Certification required. |
Laboratory Technician | Perform routine medical laboratory tests for the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. May work under the supervision of a Medical Technologist. |
Paramedic | Knowledge of advanced airway management techniques and procedures as well as extensive patient assessment techniques. Iowa Paramedic Specialist, AEMT, EMT, EMT-I, P or PS Paramedic. May work in a hospital, fire department or ambulance service |
Surgical Technician | Assist in operations, under the supervision of surgeons, registered nurses, or other surgical personnel. May help set up operating room, prepare and transport patients for surgery, adjust lights and equipment, pass instruments and other supplies to surgeons and surgeons’ assistants, hold retractors, cut sutures, and help count sponges, needles, supplies, and instruments. |
Registered Nurse (ADN/BSN) | Assess patient health problems and needs, develop, implement and evaluate nursing care plans, and maintain medical records. Administer nursing care to ill, injured, convalescent, or disabled patients. May advise patients on health maintenance and disease prevention or provide case management. Licensure required. Preferred professional certification related to clinical specialty. C.N.A. experience highly recommended. |
Physical Therapy Assistant | Will focus on strength, mobility, pain, etc. with heat, cold, stretch, and strength modalities. Works in PT clinics that are not associated with a LTC facility but are stand-alone clinics or associated with a hospital, etc. Documents the progress of treatment and modifies specific treatments in accordance with patient status and within the scope of treatment plans established by a physical therapist. State Licensure required. |
Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant | Assist occupational therapists in providing occupational therapy treatments and procedures. May, in accordance with State laws, assist in development of treatment plans, carry out routine functions, direct activity programs, and document the progress of treatments. Generally requires formal training. State Licensure required. |
Dietitian | Plan and conduct food service or nutritional programs to assist in the promotion of health and control of disease. National Certification and State Licensure required. |
Medical Technologist | Perform complex medical laboratory tests for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. May train or supervise staff. |
Radiologic Technologist | Maintain and use equipment and supplies necessary to demonstrate portions of the human body utilizing x-rays for diagnostic purposes. |
Certified Recreational Therapist | Plan, direct, or coordinate medically-approved recreation programs for patients in larger hospitals, nursing homes, or other institutions. Requires a 4-year degree. Some may specialize in a particular area, i.e. music. |
Dental Hygienist | Clean teeth and examine oral areas, head, and neck for signs of oral disease. May educate patients on oral hygiene, take and develop x rays, or apply fluoride or sealants. |
Expanded Function Dental Assistant | More hands-on responsibilities with patients than a Dental Assistant. Requires completing the Dental Assistant program and additional state board-approved training courses. |
Advance Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) | Diagnose and treat acute, episodic, or chronic illness, independently or as part of a healthcare team. May focus on health promotion and disease prevention. May order, perform, or interpret diagnostic tests such as lab work and x rays. May prescribe medication. Must be Registered Nurses who have specialized graduate education. State Licensure required. |
Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) | Administer anesthesia, monitor patient’s vital signs, and oversee patient recovery from anesthesia. May assist anesthesiologists, surgeons, other physicians, or dentists. Must be registered nurses who have specialized graduate education. |
Physical Therapist | Assess, plan, organize, and participate in rehabilitative programs that improve mobility, relieve pain, increase strength, and decrease or prevent deformity of patients suffering from disease or injury. State Licensure required. |
Occupational Therapist | Assess, plan, organize, and participate in rehabilitative programs that help build or restore vocational, homemaking, and daily living skills, as well as general independence, to persons with disabilities or developmental delays. State Licensure required. |
Pharmacist | Dispense drugs prescribed by physicians and other health practitioners and provide information to patients about medications and their use. May advise physicians and other health practitioners on the selection, dosage, interactions, and side effects of medications. |
Food Service | Prepares, delivers, and serves food with accuracy and efficiency. Works assigned positions with accuracy and efficiency. Restocks food items to specified levels. Operates cafeteria and kitchen equipment (i.e. dishwashing machine, cash register, slicer, coffee machines). Possesses knowledge of cooking methods/procedures, types of preparation and related routines. Functionally literate in written and spoken English. Successful completion of Food Sanitation and Safety Study Course and Simplified Diet Manual courses offered by employer after hire. |
Cook/Culinary | This position produces all required food items based on information obtained from production sheets, catering requests, prep sheets and any other approved source. Plans and conducts daily work to meet food production and service time requirements. |
Activities Coordinator | Plan, direct, or coordinate medically-approved recreation programs for patients in hospitals, nursing homes, or other institutions. Activities include sports, trips, dramatics, social activities, and arts and crafts. May assess a patient condition and recommend appropriate recreational activity. |
Patient Registration, Reception | Collects information from incoming patients regarding services needed, insurance available, or financial status. May assist in completion of admissions or insurance forms. Contacts insurance providers to verify coverage and obtain authorization for service. |

Responsible for coordination of paperwork in the nursing station, Admission/Discharge/Transfer paperwork and other receptionist duties as assigned. |
Central Sterile Technician | Performs decontamination/sterilization processes on surgical instrumentation and equipment for surgical services and other departments. Uses all the proper sterilization indicators and biological on the instrumentation. Keep complete records on all sterilization loads. |
Certified Pharmacy Technician | Prepare medications under the direction of a pharmacist. May measure, mix, count out, label, and record amounts and dosages of medications according to prescription orders. Requires State Certification. |
Coder | Analyzes physician/provider documentation contained in Routine Outpatient health records (electronic, paper and hybrid to determine the principal diagnosis, secondary diagnoses, principal procedure and secondary procedures. |
Medical Office Assistant | Perform administrative and certain clinical duties under the direction of a physician. Administrative duties may include scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, billing, and coding information for insurance purposes |
Certified Coder | Analyzes higher level inpatient and/or outpatient medical records for pertinent diagnoses and procedures; assigns accurate ICD-9-CM (International Classification of Diseases, 9th Revision, Clinical Modification) and/or CPT codes (Current Procedural Terminology.) Analyzes inpatient records for potential principal diagnoses/procedures as well as secondary diagnoses/procedures by reviewing the patient record and by consistently utilizing the computer system analyzer/optimizer. Conducts complete deficiency analysis on appropriate outpatient records. |
Health Records Information Technology (HRIT) | Configures, installs, monitors and maintains ITS users’ desktop software and hardware. Provides consultation to ITS users for all aspects of end-user computing and desktop-based LAN systems software. Provides technical support and guidance and works with vendors to resolve issues. Participates in projects and supports mobile workforce. |
Registered Coder | Provides high level technical competency and subject matter expertise analyzing physician/provider documentation contained in assigned In patient health records (electronic, paper and hybrid) to determine the principal diagnosis, secondary diagnoses, principal procedure and secondary procedures. |
Informatics Analyst | Provides support in planning, implementing, and evaluating processes and projects related to professional clinical practice, information management and clinical information systems to achieve clinical care transformation. |
Long Term Care Administrator | Establishes and maintains systems that are effective and efficient to operate the facility in a manner to safely meet residents’ needs in compliance with federal, state, and local requirements and to operate the facility in a financially sound manner. Requires Long Term Care Administrator License. |
Department Director, Manager | Responsible for direction of operations and business functions. |
