This class is a discussion and analysis of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. This 3 session course traces the history of the Jews and the Arabs of Palestine, their relationship to the land in question, their initial harmony, the development of conflict, the errors in judgement that were made on both sides, and the ultimate tragedy that has developed.
Gary Levinson, M.D. is a retired pulmonary critical care physician. He was born and raised in New York City and has lived in north Iowa for the last 26 years. He is Jewish and has had a relationship with Israel all of his life. He has family in Haifa, Israel and has visited with them many times over the years both in the US and Israel. He has been to Israel several times, and when he was a student spent the entire summer of 1973 in Israel with his family. He traveled extensively throughout the country. At that time both the Sinai Desert and the Temple Mount were open and he had the privilege of climbing what is believed to be Mount Sinai and visiting both The Dome of the Rock and the Al Aqsa Mosque.
