NIACC fall sports season is underway 

The first day of classes at NIACC is set for Aug. 28. 

But for the NIACC fall sports student-athletes, their seasons are already underway with practices officially starting on Aug. 1. 

The NIACC volleyball team and the NIACC men’s and women’s soccer teams started their pre-season training with practices on Aug. 1. 

The NIACC men’s and women’s cross country teams begin their pre-season training on Aug. 10. 

The NIACC volleyball team, under 14th year head coach Chris Brandt, have two pre-season scrimmages at Iowa Central on Aug. 11 and at RCTC on Aug. 15. 

The Trojan volleyball team opens their regular season Aug. 18-19 at the OWT All-In Vollyeball Tournament in Rockford, Ill. 

The NIACC men’s and women’s soccer teams have a home pre-season scrimmage against DCTC on Aug. 11. The women’s scrimmage starts at 3 p.m. with the men’s scrimmage set to start at 5:30 p.m. 

Both the soccer programs are under the direction of new coaches. Gannon Harsma has taken over as the NIACC men’s head coach and Todd Alberts is the first-year women’s head coach. 

Harsma was the NIACC women’s head coach for the last two seasons. 

The NIACC men’s and women’s cross country teams start their seasons Sept. 1 at the Augustana Twilight meet in Sioux Falls, S.D.
