Student Grievance Resolution Policy

The North Iowa Area Community College (NIACC) is committed to addressing student grievances, complaints, and concerns in a timely, equitable, and amicable manner. The college encourages the resolution of any difficulties or misunderstandings regarding its policies and regulations through informal channels whenever possible.

Students are strongly advised to engage in discussions with their academic advisors, instructors, the department dean, or relevant personnel to seek resolution of their concerns.

If informal resolution efforts do not yield satisfactory results, students may pursue a formal grievance. To initiate a formal grievance process, students must submit a grievance form, which constitutes a formal student complaint. NIACC may contact the student for further details and to conduct an additional investigation. This process, depending on the nature of the complaint, may take several weeks to several months to complete.
