The following writing assessment will be used to place you into the correct writing class here at NIACC.   It is important for you to take your time and do your best work so we may place you in the highest level class that matches your writing ability.

Please read the prompt and develop a five paragraph essay in response to the prompt. We will be evaluating your essay according to the following criteria:

1. A clear thesis statement (main idea with 3 points) that addresses the topic in the prompt.
2. Logical organization including an Introduction, 3 body paragraphs, and a conclusion.
3. Use of specific details and examples. Each body paragraph focuses on one detail from the thesis.

You have one hour to complete your essay.  When you are finished please submit your work.
