Enrollment Checklist
This list will help guide you through the enrollment process and help you keep track of what you need to complete to become a student at NIACC. If you need assistance, please contact an enrollment advisor.
- Complete your FREE Application for Admission (If you haven’t already done so)
- Note: Students applying for the Associate Degree Nursing, Practical Nursing, LPN to ADN, and Physical Therapist Assistant need to review the catalog for specific program requirements.
- Apply for Financial Assistance and Scholarships
- Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) – March 1 Priority Deadline.
- For assistance with filing the FAFSA, schedule an appointment with the NIACC Financial Aid Office:

- NIACC Foundation Scholarship Application – March 1 Priority Deadline but the application is open until August.
- Take either the ACT, SAT, Accuplacer or ALEKS Assessment test
- NIACC requires an assessment of your reading, writing and math skills prior to enrolling in classes. If you have taken the ACT/SAT or Accuplacer, please send your scores to the NIACC Admissions office. - If you haven’t taken the ACT/SAT or Accuplacer, please contact the NIACC TESTING CENTER to schedule an Accuplacer or ALEKS Assessment – 641-422-4237 or 1-888-GO NIACC, ext. 4237, or by email at testingcenter@niacc.edu.
- Go to www.actstudent.org to schedule the ACT (Please Note: a minimum ACT score of 20 IS needed for some Health Sciences programs of study)
- Go to https://sat.collegeboard.org/home to schedule the SAT
- NIACC does not have a minimum score requirement to enroll, however we do have scholarships for students who score in a particular range:

- Assessment Scores are valid for three years.
- Submit Official Transcripts
- Submit your official high school transcript or HSED/GED scores to the Admissions Office.
- Forward your official college transcripts to NIACC if you have earned credits at another college.

- Schedule a Registration Appointment
- You will meet one-on-one with an Academic Advisor who will help you select courses for the semester.
- Prior to meeting with an academic advisor, ALL transcripts and test scores (ACT, Accuplacer, and/or ALEKS) need to have been received.

- Schedule your Orientation Day
- Orientation is a day in August where you will get acclimated to the college. You will learn about what is needed to be a successful NIACC student and will also have a chance to have someone walk you around campus and to your classrooms. You’ll also be able to purchase your books and finalize any financial aid or payment plans.
- Contact the Student Development Office 641-422-4207 or 1-888-GO NIACC ext. 4207, for more information. *A postcard will be mailed to you 2 weeks prior to the Orientation.
- Submit Required Housing Forms
- You are required to Apply for Housing if you wish to live in our residence halls on campus or complete the Housing Exemption Form if you will be living elsewhere. All incoming freshmen are required to live on-campus unless you meet one of the criteria for exemption. The exemptions can be found on the Housing Exemption Form.
- Login to TrojanHome prior to the start of the semester
- TrojanHome is your “One Stop Shop!” Use it to access your student email, class schedule and information, check your grades, and so much more.
- How to Login to your TrojanHome
- Your classes will show up in CANVAS, the first day of classes.
- Pay your Bill
- To pay your bill, you will login to TrojanHome account and click on “Pay my Bill” on the left-hand side. You can also access any of your Financial Aid information via the portal.
- Or stop by the NIACC Business office, located in the Pierce Administration Building, to make a payment in person.
- Buy your Textbooks – NIACC BookZone
- The BookZone offers new books, used books, and rental books. They also offer textbook buyback 5 times throughout the year.
