North Iowa Concert Band Spring Concert

The North Iowa Concert Band, under the direction of John Klemas, will present a Spring Concert on Tuesday, April 1st at 7:30 p.m. in the North Iowa Community Auditorium on the North Iowa Area Community College campus.

The program includes: “Variations on a Shaker Melody” a set of five variations on the Shaker melody ‘Tis the Gift to Be Simple derived from music composed for the ballet “Appalachian Spring” by Aaron Copland, “Pageant” by Vincent Persichetti, “Sleep” by Eric Whitacre, “Watchman, Tell Us The Night” by Mark Camphouse which portrays the loneliness, loss of innocence and yet enduring hope of child abuse survivors, and “March from Symphonic Metamorphosis” of Themes by Carl Maria von Weber composed by Paul Hindemith and transcribed for concert band by Keith Wilson.

Members of the North Iowa Concert Band represent communities from all over North Iowa, including the towns of Belmond, Charles City, Clear Lake, Garner, Graettinger, Greene, Hampton, Lake Mills, Manly, Marble Rock, Mason City, Nashua, Nora Springs, Osage, Rockford, Rockwell, and Sheffield.

Tickets for the performance are $5 for adults and are available at the NIACC Business Office (641) 422-4188. Tickets can also be purchased at the door the night of the concert. All students will receive free admission. A reception in the Muse-Norris Conference Center will be held following the concert.
