The City of Mason City is accepting applications for a full-time Multipurpose Arena Supervisor. In this role, you’ll be at the heart of the action—overseeing the ice rink, hockey games, concerts, and community events while creating a safe and welcoming space for everyone. You’ll lead staff, help run programs, and ensure every event is a memorable experience for our community.
Essential Duties:
– Oversee the daily operation of the Multipurpose Arena, including ice rentals, events, and programs.
– Coordinate scheduling and execution of all ice arena rentals, hockey games, and other events.
– Maintain the facility and equipment in a clean, safe, and organized condition.
– Responsible for hiring, training, supervising, and supporting arena staff.
– Provide on-site supervision during programs and events and make operational decisions as needed.
– Serve as the primary contact for facility users, including hockey organizations, schools, and community groups.
– Develop and implement arena programming, including learn-to-skate programs and other ice and non-ice recreational activities.
– Assist with revenue generation efforts in collaboration with the Recreation Department’s Marketing & Communications Specialist.
– Coordinate facility setup, equipment, and staffing for events and rentals.
– Oversee the Arena concession operation, including licensing and compliance with City of Mason City and State of Iowa regulations.
– Maintain inventories, order supplies, and track operational needs.
– Maintain accurate financial records, reconcile daily receipts, and ensure compliance with city finance procedures.
– Assist in developing and recommending policies, procedures, and facility improvements.
– Promote Arena programs and events within the community.
– Provide reports and updates to the Recreation Superintendent and attend City Council meetings as requested.
– Assist with additional recreation programs and special events as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
– High school diploma or GED.
– Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Sports Management, Business, or a related field.
– Minimum of one (1) year of ice arena operations experience required.
– Prior supervisory experience and/or Certified Ice Rink Technician (CIT) certification preferred.
– Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
– Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.

– Obtain SafeSport certification with 60 days of appointment

Mall Maintenance/Security Worker
Join our team as a part-time Mall Maintenance/Security Worker, a vital role dedicated to the upkeep and safety of our mall. This part-time position performs a combination of maintenance and custodial tasks to keep the Mall buildings and grounds clean and functional.
