Position Overview
We are seeking an Accountant to support payroll and core accounting functions in a manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for accurate payroll processing, general ledger activities, and month‑end close support while working within established accounting practices and internal controls.
The Accountant works closely with Finance leadership and partners across HR, Operations, and Customer Experience to ensure reliable financial processes and timely reporting. A high level of attention to detail and confidentiality—particularly related to payroll—is essential.
Essential Functions
Payroll Processing
Execute regular payroll cycles, including employee changes, earnings, deductions, garnishments, and tax withholdings
Review payroll data for accuracy and resolve discrepancies
Prepare payroll‑related journal entries and supporting documentation
Reconcile payroll general ledger accounts and investigate variances
Support year‑end payroll activities, including W‑2/W‑3 preparation and benefit and retirement plan reconciliations
General Accounting & Month‑End Close
Prepare and post journal entries in accordance with established close schedules
Maintain and reconcile assigned general ledger accounts
Perform month‑end close activities, including accruals, prepaids, and balance sheet reconciliations
Prepare supporting schedules for internal review and external audit requests
Cash, Accounts Receivable & Banking
Apply daily cash receipts and reconcile to bank activity
Prepare bank reconciliations and research reconciling items
Monitor accounts receivable aging and perform routine collections outreach
Coordinate with internal teams to resolve billing or payment issues
AP/AR Backup & Process Support
Provide backup support for accounts payable, including invoice processing and payment preparation
Provide backup support for accounts receivable invoicing and billing adjustments
Maintain documentation and follow internal controls and segregation‑of‑duties requirements
Assist with maintaining procedures and identifying process improvement opportunities
Qualifications Required
Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience with hands‑on payroll processing
Experience supporting month‑end close
Proficiency with accounting/ERP and payroll systems
Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, reconciliations)
Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP and internal controls
Strong attention to detail, sense of ownership, confidentiality, and clear communication skills
Preferred
Experience in a manufacturing or product‑based environment
Work Environment
Office‑based role within a manufacturing setting
Frequent collaboration with HR, Operations, and customer‑facing teams
Additional hours may be required during payroll and month‑ or year‑end close
