Job Responsibilities: Shift: Monday-Friday 3:00pm-11:30pm, 3:30pm-12am Saturday and Sunday; flexibility to work all shifts and holidays. The determination of the daily and weekly work schedules shall be made by the PHO. This job is a 0.5 FTE(40 hours in 2 week pay period)
JOB SUMMARY
The Patient Representative is responsible for performing billing, collecting, and accounts receivable transaction processing, and for handling billing inquires for the Hospital and Clinic. Referrals, posting charges, payments for insurances, refunds and adjustments. This position will also cover for hospital patient registrations, switchboard functions, and cashier duties.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
A. Prepares, edits and processes all electronic and non-electronic claims in compliance with guidelines and regulations set forth by Medicare and various Federal and State Government/Agencies, and Third Party Payors. Is familiar with medical procedures and diagnosis as they refer to the claims.
B. Identifies and investigates denials. Corrects claims and re-files as appropriate.
C. Assists patients with insurance reimbursement questions/problems. Identifies pending insurance balances. Updates patient demographic information as needed.
D. Communicates with other fiscal departments, ancillary departments, physicians and their office staff, and nursing personnel, as needed, to clarify billing discrepancies and/or to obtain medical information.
E. Performs a number of functions on the Direct Data Entry (DDE)
Pay Range: $12.90-$17.43 – Hourly
