Applying for Aid
Step 2
Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
The FAFSA is the starting point for all students to apply for Federal and State financial aid. The FAFSA is typically submitted over the internet at studentaid.gov. Be sure to list NIACC as a school to receive the results of your application. NIACC’s Federal School Code is 001877.
NIACC offers free assistance in completing your FAFSA. For more information contact the NIACC Financial Aid Office at 641-422-4168 or Admissions Office at 641-422-4245.
Step 3
Submit your completed FAFSA
You may sign your completed FAFSA electronically with your FSA ID. If you do not already have an FSA ID, you may request one at the FAFSA website, or at studentaid.gov. You may print, sign and mail a signature page to the processing center (at the address which appears on the printed signature page) instead of signing electronically. Continue the online application until you receive a confirmation that the application has been submitted. Award funds in many federal and state programs are limited. To be considered for these types of aid, your application must be received at the processing center by March 1. To be considered for the state programs for the 2022-2023 academic year, submit your application by July 1.
Step 4
Watch for a Student Aid Report (SAR) in your mail or email after submitting your application
By listing NIACC on your FAFSA form, the NIACC Financial Aid Office will automatically receive a copy of your SAR.
Step 5
The NIACC Financial Aid Office will begin processing your financial aid offer and determine what you are eligible to receive
Financial aid forms necessary to process your FAFSA results will be mailed directly to you by NIACC.
Forward all requested forms and documentation to the NIACC Financial Aid Office. Once your aid has been processed, you will receive a financial aid offer. Log on to your TrojanHome Portal to review and accept your offer.
